Privacy Policy for Duo: Chess Clock & Timer

The short version

Duo has no accounts, no sign-up and no ads. Everything personal — player names, game history, custom time controls, settings — is stored only on your device and is never uploaded. The app sends a small number of anonymous, aggregate usage events (for example, “a blitz game finished”) so we can see which features matter; these events can never contain names or identify you. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple.

What stays on your device

All of the following is stored locally in the app’s private storage and is never transmitted anywhere:

Deleting the app deletes all of this. There is no server copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side — and nothing for anyone to breach.

Anonymous usage analytics

Duo uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count how features are used in aggregate. TelemetryDeck is designed so that developers never see data about identifiable individuals: identifiers are anonymised before storage, and no advertising identifier is used.

The events Duo sends are deliberately coarse. For example, when a game finishes we send the category (“Blitz”), the result type (“win on time”), and bucketed counts (“15–39 moves”, “2–10 minutes”). The app never sends:

Purchases

Duo Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. Payment details never reach us — we receive no name, card number or billing address. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, which is how Restore Purchase and Family Sharing work.

Photos

If you choose to save a game card to your photo library, iOS asks for add-only permission — Duo can add that one image and cannot read, browse or modify your existing photos. The app never accesses your library any other way.

What Duo does not do

Children

Duo is a game timer suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future update changes what Duo stores or sends — for example, optional iCloud sync of your game history — this policy will be updated first, and the change will be called out in the App Store release notes.
